What Is the Secret to Kyle Dean Massey’s Broadway Success? | Playbill

Video What Is the Secret to Kyle Dean Massey’s Broadway Success? The former star of Next to Normal and Wicked joins Tyler Mount and reveals his biggest fear, his celebrity spirit animal—plus a reenactment of posing for his headshot.

This week on Playbill’s The Tyler Mount Vlog, Broadway heartthrob Kyle Dean Massey sits down to talk about his Broadway career.

Having made his Broadway debut as Fiyero in Wicked, Massey returned to the Stephen Schwartz musical multiple times. Still, he managed to squeeze in an appearance in Xanadu and leading roles in Next to Normal and Pippin. So what’s his favorite? “I feel like every time you play a role ... you get to know them so well they occupy a certain place in your heart so you like them for different reasons,” he says in the video above.

Still, for all his talent, Massey attributes his success to his work ethic. “I feel like I’m the Honda of Broadway I feel like I'm just really reliable. I show up at work, I hardly miss shows, I hate missing. Nothing too flashy. Just dependable.”

Massey also answered a lightning round of questions to reveal his first crush, the most beautiful place he’s been, his celebrity spirit animal (Hint: She’s a country star), and his biggest fear. Watch the video above to find out!
