Broadway News Watch: A Bronx Tale Creators Discuss Alan Menken’s ‘Look to Your Heart’ Composer Menken and librettist Chazz Palminteri share their thoughts on the touching song in this exclusive video.

In the video above, A Bronx Tale composer Alan Menken and book writer Chazz Palminteri discuss the song “Look to Your Heart” from the new musical at the Longacre Theatre.

Palminteri says that the message of the song—about not wasting one's talent—is “a message that the father gives to the boy. That's why I think a lot of people bring their families to come and see this. It gives a great message to kids.”

Watch the discussion as well as Richard H. Blake’s performance of the tune.

The Broadway company is currently led by Tony Award nominee Nick Cordero as Sonny, Christiani Pitts as Jane, Blake as Lorenzo, Bobby Conte Thornton as Calogero, Lucia Giannetta as Rosina, Bradley Gibson as Tyrone, and Will Coombs and Jonah Mussolino, who share the part of Young Calogero.

A Bronx Tale has a book by Academy Award nominee Palminteri, music by Oscar, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Menken, and lyrics by Grammy winner and Oscar and Tony nominee Glenn Slater. It is co-directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo.
