Broadway News Watch: A Bronx Tale Creators Discuss Alan Menken’s ‘In a World Like This’ Composer Menken and librettist Chazz Palminteri share their thoughts on the “Motown homage” in this exclusive video.

In the video above, A Bronx Tale composer Alan Menken and book writer Chazz Palminteri discuss the song “In a World Like This” from the new musical at the Longacre Theatre.

Menken says the song was “fun for me to write. It's a real Motown homage. I really got to play with a lot of the sounds of those Motown hits.” The video also features original stars Bobby Conte Thornton and Ariana DeBose’s performance of the tune.

The Broadway company is currently led by Tony nominee Nick Cordero as Sonny, Christiani Pitts as Jane, Richard H. Blake as Lorenzo, Adam Kaplan as Calogero, Lucia Giannetta as Rosina, Bradley Gibson as Tyrone, and Will Coombs and Jonah Mussolino, who share the part of Young Calogero.

A Bronx Tale has a book by Oscar nominee Palminteri, music by Oscar, Grammy, and Tony winner Menken, and lyrics by Grammy winner and Oscar and Tony nominee Glenn Slater. It is co-directed by Robert De Niro and Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
