The 72nd annual Tony Awards will take place June 10, 2018, at Radio City Music Hall. This marks the second consecutive year the awards have taken place in the midtown venue (in 2016, the ceremony was held in the Beacon Theatre).
Additionally, the Tony Awards have reached a new agreement with CBS, ensuring the ceremony will be broadcast through 2026. The network has aired the Tonys since 1978.

Productions will need to open by April 26 in order to be considered eligible for the 2017–2018 season. Nominations will be announced Tuesday, May 1.
The 2018 awards will also mark the return of the Best Sound Design categories, which were first awarded in 2008 but eliminated in 2014. The reinstatement follows a backlash that ensued after the 2014 announcement, which led to the hashtag movement #TonyCanYouHearMe.
“CBS has been an amazing and collaborative partner in bringing the live arts we honor, to their viewers,” said American Theatre Wing President Heather Hitchens and Broadway League President Charlotte St. Martin in a joint statement (the two organizations co-present the awards). “Their continued support has helped make the Tony Awards an acclaimed television event and has allowed us to bring Broadway to homes all over America.”
