Classic Arts News The Nutcracker Comes to Life in These Clips From the Royal Ballet's Cinema Series Presentation The Tchaikovsky favorites arrives in U.S. movie theatres beginning December 21.

The holiday classic The Nutcracker heads to movie theatres around the U.S. beginning December 21. The screenings, which will run over the course of several weeks, is the latest offering from the Royal Opera House’s Cinema Series.

Check out two exclusive clips from the Peter Wright production: Tchaikovsky’s famed “March of the Toy Soldiers” and the “Dance of the Reed Flutes.”

The Royal Ballet cast for the screening features Francesca Hayward as Clara, Alexander Campbell as Hans-Peter/the Nutcracker, Sarah Lamb as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Steven McRae as the Prince, and Gary Avis as Herr Drosselmeyer.

ROH’s Cinema Series will also include Anna Netrebko and Željko Lučić in Verdi’s Macbeth, plus new ballets celebrating the Leonard Bernstein centennial.
