Video #TBT: Tony Winners Cynthia Erivo and Francis Ruffelle Join Forces to Sing Chess Duet ‘I Know Him So Well’ The two actors sing the memorable duet from Chess, which will be revived at the Kennedy Center in 2018.

Following the recent announcement that Tony nominees Raúl Esparza and Ramin Karimloo will join Tony winners Ruthie Ann Miles and Karen Olivo in a new adaptation of Chess at the Kennedy Center, now seems like a good time to revisit one of the Benny Andersson-Björn Ulvaeus musical's classic tunes: the second act duet “I Know Him So Well.”

In the video above, Tony winners Cynthia Erivo (The Color Purple) and Frances Ruffelle (Les Misérables) perform the song to honor the musical's lyricist, Tony winner Tim Rice. The performance was part of the July 2014 concert Tim Rice: A Life in Song, which was subsequently broadcast on BBC Two that December.

Going back a a few more years, here is Elaine Paige, who created the role of Florence on the musical's concept album and later on the London stage, singing the show's “Nobody's Side.”

Tony winner Michael Mayer will direct the forthcoming Kennedy Center production, which will feature a new book by Danny Strong and is slated to run February 14–18, 2018.

Chess played a brief run on Broadway in 1988 starring Judy Kuhn, David Carroll, and Philip Casnoff. Other songs include “One Night in Bangkok,” “Heaven Help My Heart,” “Anthem,” “Someone Else’s Story,” and “Pity The Child.”
