Taylor Mac, a Pulitzer Prize finalist for the marathon performance piece A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, will present a holiday special in the same vein this December. Taylor Mac's 24-Decade History: Holiday Sauce will play The Town Hall in New York December 12.
The show explores the catalog of holiday songs through various eras—carrying with them their own forms of anxiety and calamity. Mac will again work with designer Machine Dazzle and music director Matt Ray—both are longtime collaborators with judy (Mac's preferred pronoun).
Mac was recently awarded the MacArthur Fellowship, which comes with a $625,000 "Genius Grant" for continued creative pursuits. After being named a Pulitzer Prize finalist and Edward M. Kennedy Award winner for A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, judy brought the show to San Francisco and Los Angeles, with condensed version coming to Washington, D.C. and Tempe, Arizona, in 2018.
