Ahead of its first preview performance on Broadway November 14, Dear Evan Hansen has released a new music video for the song “Waving Through a Window,” performed by the show’s star, Ben Platt.
The music video is inspired by and includes fan art for the new musical and also includes footage of Platt in the recording studio. Watch it on Entertainment Weekly here.
Sparked by a real-life death at Pasek's high school more than a decade ago, Dear Evan Hansen follows one student's struggle for identity amidst the ensuing chaos. Following its acclaimed debut at Arena Stage in 2015, the Off-Broadway premiere quickly sold out its entire limited run earlier this year. It is due to officially open on Broadway December 4 at the Music Box Theatre.
The original musical features a score by the Tony and Emmy-nominated songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight, A Christmas Story), a book by Steven Levenson (Masters of Sex), choreography by Danny Mefford (Fun Home) and direction by three-time Tony nominee Michael Greif (Rent, Next to Normal, If/Then).
