Broadway performer-producer Jana Robbins will accept the TRU Spirit of Theater Award November 5 at Caroline’s Comedy Club in New York City at Theater Resources Unlimited’s luncheon, 25 Years of TRU Love: Creating Community Through the Arts, which will include performances by Tony award nominee Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll & Hyde) and cabaret performers Steve Ross and Julie Reyburn.

Another nightclub regular, Klea Blackhurst, will host the event on behalf of the TRU arts services organization. The entertainment section of the event will be directed by Jim Brochu (Zero Hour, The Big Voice).

Robbins began her career as a Broadway actor in 1974 with a revival of Good News. She appeared as a cast member and/or standby for I Love My Wife, Romance/Romance, Gypsy (as Tyne Daly’s standby), and The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife before crossing over to become a producer on shows including Little Women (2005) and the 2009 revival of Ragtime.

Caroline's is located at 1626 Broadway (between 49th and 50th Streets) near Times Square in Manhattan. Pre-show cocktails and hors d'oeuvres start at noon followed by lunch at 1 PM and performances and awards at 2 PM.

Tickets, which cost $70 (bar and show) to $225 for first tier VIP seats with luncheon, can be ordered here.

Proceeds from this event will go to support programs of Theater Resources Unlimited, a not-for-profit service organization that educates people in the business of the arts, with a focus on producers, emerging theater companies, and self-producing artists.

Previous TRU Spirit of the Theater Award recipients include Ben Cameron, Ken Davenport, Michael Feingold, Jerry Mitchell, Jennifer Ashley Tepper, and Randall Wreghitt.
