Many people who were bullied in high school turn to their therapists for help. Performer, writer, and graphic artist Robbie Rozelle turned his high school bullying into fabulousness with his cabaret show, Songs From Inside My Locker, which debuted in June at Feinstein’s/54 Below, and will encore at the same New York City venue 9:30 PM October 28.

Rozelle, who “would often find himself shoved in a locker for singing from The Rink too loudly” will perform a trove of showtunes “ranging from Kander & Ebb to Carrie.”

Rozelle has directed and written or co-written cabaret shows for Tony Award nominee Melissa Errico (Amour), two-time Tony nominee Kate Baldwin (Hello Dolly!), Elena Shaddow (The Visit), Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Women on the Verge), and frequent collaborator Jessica Vosk. For his own show, he told Playbill ”There’s a really fun Charles Nelson Reilly/Paul Lynde medley in the show—I consider myself the love child of those 1970s icons. And since there's no game show for me to be a center square of, Feinstein's/54 Below will have to do.”

He says, “I also consider Ken Mandelbaum’s book Not Since Carrie to be a holy text, so we have a medley of greatest hits from Broadway’s misses, which concludes with Bonnie Milligan joining me to sing ‘I Remember How Those Boys Could Dance’ from Carrie.”

Rozelle said he has fond memories of his debut at the theatre district club. “Walking out onto that stage, with The Two Drink Minimum band behind me playing Josh D. Smith’s brilliant arrangements, that audience was with me. Frankly, every day since has been a disappointment. I don't get an ovation when I order a mocha at Starbucks. We just had a grand, demented time up there and I was shocked and thrilled that people wanted to see what I would put together.”

Special guests for the October 28 show include Bonnie Milligan and Jack Parton. Rozelle also previously appeared in Sondheimas, and in several shows at The Duplex in Greenwich Village

Feinstein’s/54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street, beneath Studio 54, in Manhattan. Tickets, which cost $30 to $65 (plus a $25 food/drink minimum), can be ordered here.
