The world premiere of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, a new play with music by Eve Wolf that explores the intersections of the writer’s life and her enduring Gothic novel, opened officially Off-Broadway December 27. The limited engagement will run through January 7, 2018, at the Pershing Square Signature Center.

The Donald T. Sanders-helmed production marks the choreographic debut of Robert Fairchild. The An American in Paris Tony nominee, who gave his final performance as a New York City Ballet principal dancer earlier this season, also takes on the role of The Creature.

In addition to Fairchild, the cast includes Avey Noble, Krysty Swann, Mia Vallet, Peyton Lusk, Rocco Sisto, Shiv Ajay Pancholi-Parekh, and Paul Wesley.

The production hails from Ensemble for the Romantic Century, who presented Van Gogh’s Ear at the Signature Center earlier this year. The company aims to bring to life historical figures through dramatizations of first-hand sources, including letters, diaries, memoirs, and newspapers.
