Performer Michael Feinstein will celebrate the composer of “Over the Rainbow” in his concert show Harold Arlen: The World On a String, October 25 at Zankel Hall at New York’s Carnegie Hall, part of Feinstein’s Standard Time concert series.
Arlen was one of the great American song masters of the 1930s and 1940s, composing such hits as “Get Happy,” “Stormy Weather,” “Let’s Fall in Love,” “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” and “Blues in the Night.” Feinstein’s guests at the concert will include Australian cabaret star Ali McGregor, tap-dancing singers The Honey Taps, and a swing-style piano trio, Tedd Firth, Phil Palombi, and Mark McLean.
Feinstein will continue his Standard Time concerts at Carnegie Hall in February and March 2018.
Feinstein told Playbill he doesn't stick with one single set list. “I customize every single song list uniquely for each show and keep my synapses very busy. Often it’s a theme show if it’s part of my series for Jazz at Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall and I’ll choose the theme and then set out to create an interesting list of songs, both new and classic.”
