Stage and screen star Kathleen Turner, last on Broadway in High, will star as God in George Street Playhouse's upcoming production of David Javerbaum's An Act of God.

Artistic Director David Saint will direct the limited run, which begins November 28 and continues through December 23 at the New Jersey venue.

“We could not be more thrilled to have one of the most revered film and Broadway stars of our time playing God,” said Saint in a statement. “God has a lot to say in this incredibly funny modern comedy, and Ms. Turner has just the right amount of chutzpah to bring us Her words.”

An Act of God is based on the critically acclaimed book The Last Testament: A Memoir by God, “written by God and transcribed by David Javerbaum.” Javerbaum is a 13-time Emmy Award winner for his work as a head writer and executive producer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

The play premiered on Broadway May 7, 2015, starring Jim Parsons, and ran through August 2, 2015. It played a return engagement on Broadway in 2016 starring Sean Hayes.

Turner, an Oscar nominee for Peggy Sue Got Married, was Tony-nominated for her performances in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
