Josie and the Pussycats Sing Rent's ‘Out Tonight’ on New Episode of Riverdale | Playbill

Film & TV News Josie and the Pussycats Sing Rent's ‘Out Tonight’ on New Episode of Riverdale The high-energy number from the Tony- and Pulitzer-winning musical can be heard on the November 8 episode of the CW series.

In the clip above, Riverdale's favorite girl band Josie and the Pussycats performs a cover of "Out Tonight" from Jonathan Larson's 1996 Tony-winning musical Rent (though their lyric choice of “We won’t be back before it’s New Year’s Day” hails from the 2005 film adaptation).

The episode, titled "When a Stranger Calls," airs November 8 on The CW.

This clip features performances by Ashleigh Murray (as Josie McCoy), Hayley Law (as Valerie Brown), Asha Bromfield (as Melody Valentine), and Camila Mendes (as Veronica Lodge).

A modern (and darker) take on the Archie comic book series, Riverdale was developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the playwright behind such works as Broadway's American Psycho and Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark.
