During her recent critically acclaimed engagement at Joe's Pub, Story Songs #2, Tony winner Betty Buckley performed Jason Robert Brown's “Hope,” which the Tony-winning composer penned the day after the presidential election.

Brown, composer of Broadway's Parade, 13, The Bridges of Madison County, and Honeymoon in Vegas, caught Buckley's performance at the intimate cabaret October 15 and posted the following on Facebook.

“Last night I went to see Betty Buckley at Joe's Pub, and in the middle of a thrilling set, she did something virtually impossible—she made me hear my own song differently, made me feel something deeper and more layered than what I knew when I wrote it. Betty Lynn has been a champion of my work for a long time, and it always amazes me that this iconic star, this legend, pays so much attention to the detail of what I do, the spaces between the spaces. She's a unique and extraordinary performer, and I'm so honored to have her bring my songs to life. (Also, the ’Young At Heart’ at the end of the show was glorious.) Thanks for putting me in the company of so many brilliant writers, BLB. We're all lucky to be there with you.”
