Three-time Tony Award recipient Bernadette Peters made her long-awaited return to the Broadway stage January 20, succeeding Bette Midler in the Tony-winning revival of Hello, Dolly!. In her first two performances, the production played to 100.17 percent capacity, taking in $372,200 (100.84 percent of its potential) at the Shubert Theatre box office.

It was also a good week over at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where Waitress composer Sara Bareilles returned to her musical's leading role of pie baker Jenna. The production, also currently starring Jason Mraz, grossed $1,608,291—a new house record for the show and theatre.
The highest-grossing production for the week ending January 21 was once again the Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning Hamilton, which took in $3,096,068. Runner-up was Springsteen on Broadway, which grossed $2,407,328 over five performances.

In addition to Waitress, other productions that broke the $1 million mark were Aladdin ($1,289,667), Come From Away ($1,201,168), Dear Evan Hansen ($1,707,785), The Book of Mormon ($1,200,931), The Lion King ($1,852,483), and Wicked ($1,583,593).
