Classic Arts News Go Inside the Opening Weekend of the San Francisco Opera Season The 95th season kicked off with celebrations and performances September 8–10.

The San Francisco Opera kicked off its 95th season with a weekend of celebrations and performances beginnning September 8. Festivies began with two galas, Opera Ball 2017 at The Imperial Palace and the BRAVO! CLUB Opening Night Gala, as well as a performance of Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot after which Nicola Luisotti was awarded the San Francisco Opera Medal. The weekend continued with Richard Strauss’ Elektra and concluded with the free, annual Opera in the Park.
