Tara Finney Productions’ 20th anniversary staging of Enda Walsh’s play Disco Pigs, which played an acclaimed run at London’s Trafalgar Studios in 2017, begins performances Off-Broadway January 5. The co-production with New York City’s Irish Repertory Theatre stars Harry Potter’s Evanna Lynch and Colin Campbell (Dublin by Lamplight), reprising their roles from the London staging.

Performances are on Irish Rep’s mainstage. The limited engagement is scheduled through February 18 with an opening night set for January 9.

Walsh is a Tony winner for the musical Once; his other works include Arlington, Ballyturk, and Lazarus, the musical he co-wrote with David Bowie. His play Disco Pigs is widely considered to be his breakthrough piece. The drama made a splash when it premiered at the 1997 Edinburgh Fringe, where it was lauded by critics and picked up a number of awards.

In Disco Pigs, Pig and Runt—born on the same day in the same hospital and inseparable ever since—celebrate their joint birthday. As night falls, the disco and drink take hold, and things spiral violently out of control.

The creative team for Disco Pigs Off-Broadway includes set and costume designer Richard Kent (Man to Man), lighting designer Elliot Griggs (Pomona), sound designer Giles Thomas (Outside Mullingar), and movement director Naomi Said (Beginning).
