Three-time Tony nominee David Alan Grier (The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, Race, and The First), Ken Jeong (The Hangover, Community), and the singing group PRETTYMUCH (made up of Austin Porter, Brandon Arreaga, Edwin Honoret, Nick Mara, and Zion Kuwonu) have joined the cast of A Christmas Story Live!, which is set to air December 17 on Fox.

Grier will play Santa Claus, Jeong will be a Christmas tree salesman and a restaurant owner, and PRETTYMUCH will play the Hohman Indiana carolers.

As previously reported, Tony winner Jane Krakowski will play Ralphie’s teacher Miss Shields, with Waitress alum Chris Diamantopoulos and SNL veteran Maya Rudolph as Ralphie’s parents. Tony winner Matthew Broderick as the grown-up Ralphie serves as narrator, and 11-year-old newcomer Andy Walken will play the central role of Ralphie. Wicked and SNL alum Ana Gasteyer will play Mrs. Schwartz, the mother of one of Ralphie’s friends.


The TV event, slated to air December 17, will blend the score Benj Pasek and Justin Paul penned for the musical adaption with new material, including an adapted screenplay by executive producers Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary.

Fox also has a live adaptation of Jonathan Larson's Tony- and Pulitzer-winning Rent in the pipeline; the musical is set to air in early 2019.
