The Metropolitan Opera Guild honored Grammy-winning operatic soprano Renée Fleming at its 83rd annual benefit luncheon in New York December 7.
Many friends of the singer—including stars from the world of opera and Broadway—gathered at Cipriani 42nd Street to sing her praises. Guests included Kristin Chenoweth, Marilyn Horne, Diane Sawyer, Candice Bergen, Martina Arroyo, James Morris, Luca Pisaroni, and Francesca Zambello.
“I’ve been so honored to call the Met my operatic home and am grateful for the love and support of everyone in this room,” Fleming told the assembled guests.

Last season, the soprano announced she would retire a number of the opera roles for which she is famous, including Der Rosenkavalier’s Marschallin, which she last sang at the Met May 13.
This spring she will sing the role of Nettie Fowler in the Broadway revival of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel, marking her Broadway musical debut. Performances begin February 28, 2018, at the Imperial Theatre.
