The Roundabout Theatre Company cast and creative team open up about the new family drama by Lindsey Ferrentino.

Check out the stars of Roundabout Theatre Company’s Amy and the Orphans, a new work by Ugly Lies the Bone playwright Lindsey Ferrentino debuting this winter. In the video above, the cast and creative team open up about the play and what it means to have actors with Down Syndrome on the Off-Broadway stage.

In Amy and the Orphans, three siblings go on the trip of a lifetime. After their father’s death, Maggie and Jacob reunite with Amy, their movie-loving sister who has Down Syndrome. Together, they careen down the Great American Long Island Expressway, navigating strip malls, traffic jams, and family drama.

Jamie Brewer (American Horror Story), Tony winner Debra Monk (Redwood Curtain, Steel Pier), and veteran actor Mark Blum (The Assembled Parties) lead the cast of the Off-Broadway production, directed by Tony nominee Scott Ellis. Performances begin February 1 in the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre.

Vanessa Aspillaga, Diane Davis, and Josh McDermitt complete the cast. The limited engagement of Amy and the Orphans is scheduled through April 22.
